The job involves evaluating and managing costs, value and management information systems. Cost accountants are involved in cost analysis; they collect, organize, collate and analyze all internal and financial information to valuate regular critical analyses of past and present financial performance. They then make future projections which help to take important decisions in any company. Cost accountants monitor all costs from raw material and labour costs to transport, administrative costs, overheads on buildings etc.

They are responsible for budget control with the ultimate goal for maximization of profits. Cost and works accountants work with businesses, industries and financial organizations. One should have an analytical mind and good judgement skills. Cost and works accountancy can be studied after 12th or after graduation. ICWA foundation course is open to students who have passed the class 12th exam in any stream-Humanities, Science or Commerce. After the completion of foundation course, the student can register themselves for the ICWA programme which consists of intermediate and final levels.
